Schedule a Free 15 Minute ConsultationWelcome! I'm so glad you're here.
I offer compassionate psychotherapy for adults navigating emotional pain, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I’m licensed in New York, Florida, and Connecticut. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or carrying unresolved experiences, you don’t have to face it alone.
With a gentle, supportive approach, I use EMDR and other evidence-based therapies to help you process what’s weighing you down, find clarity, and move forward with greater resilience and self-awareness. My work is grounded in specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy (PGDT), and more.
Healing is possible—and I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way.
We offer evidence-based trauma support including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help process distressing memories and reduce their emotional impact. Safe, focused, and designed for healing.

At New Dawn Counseling & Therapy, we prioritize transparency and clear communication. Please review our services guidelines and policies below:
We’ll discuss your goals, history, and work together to create a personalized plan.
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of our practice, with exceptions as required by law.
Typical sessions last about 50 minutes, but we can discuss options that fit your needs.
We accept several insurance plans and offer affordable self-pay options.
Using insurance for psychotherapy can make mental health care more accessible for many people. By working with providers who accept insurance, clients often pay reduced fees or co-pays, making regular sessions more financially manageable. It also allows individuals to tap into mental health benefits they’re already paying for through employer plans or government programs. However, insurance companies may limit the number of sessions, require specific diagnoses, or restrict the types of therapy covered—creating boundaries that can shape the course of treatment.
Choosing to pay privately for therapy—without insurance—offers more freedom and confidentiality. Self-pay clients aren’t bound by coverage limits, diagnostic requirements, or documentation shared with third-party providers. Therapy can be tailored around your goals, timeline, and preferred approach, whether it’s EMDR, grief counseling, or simply space to talk. I offer sliding scale fees to keep sessions affordable, and this flexibility allows people to prioritize their emotional wellness without compromising quality or privacy.
Please notify us at least 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule without penalty.
"Ruth is SO genuine. Whenever we talk, I feel like I have someone in my corner who is looking out for my best interests. We have been doing EMDR therapy for a few months, and it has been truly life changing. Without getting into the details of my diagnosis, I will say that my day-to-day lived experience has been drastically improved."
